#90 Working Hard

Monday April  13, 2015

Hello everyone,
I hope everything is doing good at home.  I am now in the area of San Remigio, Bogo.  It is very far from everything else and we live in a little house that has a couple of cockroaches to keep us company.  It is a nice little house that is only cement.  The area is very different and I have a pretty new Filipino companion.  I am actually finishing the training of my companion and back to district leader. We have been working hard and getting a lot of work done.  This last week we were able to also see conference with about 15 other people in our branch. It was pretty good.  It really helped me a lot. I am trying to better myself especially this last part of my mission. I can’t wait till Mother’s Day to Skype my family.

#89 New Area-San Remigio, Bogo

Wednesday, April 8, 2015

Hello everyone,
I have had a wonderful time here in Danao but the time has come to pass that I have been called away.  I am now being transferred to San Remigio Bogo Cebu.  It is farther north.  It might be the farthest north.  I will find out tomorrow.  I am going to finish the training of a missionary that started his training.  It is really hard to say good bye to the people here.  This last week has been crazy. Monday we had a meeting for MLC and then on Tuesday we had MLC and then on Thursday we had ZTM and a baptismal interview for the district leader on Camotes.  That is where the pics of the sunset are from.  We had dinner on the beach.  It has been a lot of meetings.  We did get some pretty good work done in our area also.  We finally helped our investigator Tuto accept a baptismal date.  It was sweet and maybe I can come back and baptism him.  He is supposed to be baptized at the end of the month.  I am excited to see a new area but I really loved being here in Danao.

#88 Fellowshipping

Monday, March 30, 2015

Hey everyone
Well this last week has been pretty busy for us.  One thing that I really did good this week and was working with members. We got some great help from the members here and they also fed us a ton of food.  It was really sweet.  My investigators now have pretty good fellowshippers and the ward knows about some new less actives.  It would be awesome if members could just go to the missionaries and ask if they have an investigator that needs a fellowshipper.  Then have them teach you what to do to be a fellowshipper.  I think we all kind of know.  If the missionaries don't have any investigators for you to visit then just find a referral for them.  I promise you will see many blessings in your life.  It isn't something hard.  It is called being a good friend.  I hope everything is going good.  I am feel good and healthy.  I don't really have any big problems.

#87 Maayong Adlaw sa tanan

Monday, March 23, 2015

Hey everyone
Maayong Adlaw sa tanan.  I hope you are all doing good.  This week has been pretty good.  It was a little hard with some of the challenges that we have faced but we have some awesome investigators.   We have a new investigator that we gave a book of Mormon to and told him to read the introduction page.  He read that and then continued through the testimonies and the brief explanation.  When we started the lesson we asked how his reading was and then he summarized everything that he read.  He had a couple questions and then we taught a little bit.  He learned so much through the spirit.  It was awesome. We pray that he will continue to progress well.

#86 New investigator

Monday, March 16, 2015

Hey everyone
This week was pretty normally awesome.  I don't have a lot of time today. Later we need to go to the mission home. This morning we played basketball. I am mostly staying in shape. I have been running about every other day. We met this great new investigator the other day that has depression and he just stays home most of the time.  He said that he has seen his depression start when he stops following the commandments of God.  We had a great discussion with him and will go back there in a couple of days, really fun time.  That is really all for me.  Obedience is so key.

#85 Getting to the wedding on time

Monday, March 9, 2015

Hello everyone
So this week has been great.  We went the mission home for MLC and then ZTM on Thursday.  Then I got to go to the Cebu temple and watch one of my converts get married and sealed to her new husband.  It was really cool.  Definitely got to see the fruits of my labors.  This week I have learned a lot about tender mercies.  This week I have noticed so many times where the Lord helped me with something that I didn't need but something that I wanted.  Getting to the wedding was one example of that.  The traffic here is absolutely crazy and unpredictable.  I was praying that the buses that we took would help us get to the wedding on time.  I arrived exactly 15 minutes before it started.  It was great.  The Lord shows His love all the time.   We just sometimes don't notice it.  Elder Eyring once gave a talk and in it he told us to right in our journal the times that we see the hand of the Lord.  This is mainly to help us recognize it and be actively looking for it. I would encourage everyone to do this,  you will be so much more grateful for your life. Being a zone leader is awesome, we have a lot of plans for our zone this month. Later today I am going to Camotes, it should be fun.

#84 Sweating in the Philippines

Monday, March 2, 2015

Hello everyone,
This last week has been pretty good.  It was a little hard because our investigator who is supposed to be baptized soon didn't come to church.  We are still going to have to work with her.  This week we got to help this old man build a small shed thing out of bamboo.  It was pretty coo,l but really hot.  I will try to explain what it is like to sweat in the Philippines so everyone has an idea.  First, in your normal clothes use a spray bottle to spray water all over you.  Be pretty liberal about how much you spray because you want to try to achieve the effect of 100 percent humidity. After you have done that put your snow clothes on.  Go lay outside in the direct sun light.  If it is not higher than 75 degrees outside you won’t get the right effect.  For lower temperatures you can substitute with physical activity.  For every 10 degrees below 75 run 1 kilometer.  That should about do it.  If while running your sweat isn't blinding you then you are not running fast enough. If you try this I would like to know the results.  This is still experimental.  I don't actually know if this will give you the exact result.  I will adjust it based on the reports that I receive.  Also if you think it is too hot then it is probably exactly right.  Luckily right now it is winter here and I actually get a little cold at night.  It is probably about 75 degrees. All in all I am doing really good, really happy with my area.  I hope everyone is doing good.   Super funny thing next to me right now, it proves that a smart phone does not mean that the owner is smart. The lady is on the computer and using her 3g capable cell phone to take a picture of what she is looking at on the computer... oh and she just took it with the flash on so it didn't work at all hahaha great.  :)
