#66 Two new missionaries

Monday, October 27, 2014

Hey everyone
This week has been really sweet.  We just got 2 new missionaries that are assigned in one half our branch. Our area is half the size now but that is nice.  Instead of having 5 cities we now just have 2.  We have about 40,000 people that live in our area so we have plenty of people too tract.  This week we found some cool new part member families.  We are hoping that they can progress well.  This week was cool to see how easy it is too help people.  We were teaching this less active old lady and she just starts going off about how hard her life is and she does have a really hard life but like my dad I don't really like to hear complaining.  I was a little mad at first but as I started to show her that we cared for her she became a lot nicer.  I feel like we learned and she also felt lifted but it didn't happen like I expected it.  We also were able to visit a member in the hospital and we walked through it and of course because I am American they love me.  And I was also wearing my superman socks.  The people all smiled at them.  It was really cool.  I am doing good here.  We haven't got too much rain but it still feels like we are drowning because of the humidity.  Today we are going to play basketball with the new elders and our zone leaders.  I hope everyone is good at home.

#65 Splitting Duero

Wednesday, October 22, 2014

Hello everyone,
We are doing great here.  We have transfer week this week so we have a different schedule.  This week we have been preparing to split the Duero area.  I and my comp are staying here.  And 2 new missionaries are moving in with us.  This last week we were able to teach our normal investigators and find new ones.  Even though the buses here seem to be on the opposite schedule from us we are still able to make it to everyone.  We have been getting some nice rain but it is still hot some days.  Everyone here has been praying every night because that is what they do in October to prepare for the day of the dead.  We are gearing up for Halloween.  We might wear each others ties for Halloween.  We will have the coolest costumes ever.  I hope all is well back home.  I love you all

#64 Finally Watched Conference

Monday, October 13, 2014

 Hey everyone
Well I am doing really good.  We got to watch conference yesterday.  We also had some great experiences with the Lord guiding us.  We weren't able to visit everyone this week but we were able to visit the most important ones.  We had a great time listening to priesthood session with just four of us (2 missionaries, branch president and his counselor).  It was a pretty normal week for us.  Just being busy.  Elder Lewis is doing awesome and we keep finding ways we are connected through people we know.  I hope all is well in the states.

#63 Power of the Book of Mormon

Monday, October 6, 2014

Hey everyone
This week for us has been kind of hard.  We have seen some successes and had some fun.  We have seen the great power of the Book of Mormon in converting people.  This last week I actually got to go to Cebu and have a meeting with all the district leaders and President Tanner.  It was really cool.  We learned about the organization and fruits of the primitive church versus the church now.  We didn't have as much time to work but we got to teach some good people and our schedule was changed quite a bit.  I started to think that I was in kind of a rut but now I am definitely not.  We have been blessed much and kept safe but we can always improve.  I just can't wait for conference.  It is almost better than christmas.  I have especially seen a benefit while I have been a missionary.  I hope everyone is okay.

Elder Roskelley

Sorry I didn't go to long.  We are having a lot of internet problems here.  It is very frustrating for us.

Email from Elder Benjamin

From Elder Benjamin:

We had the opportunity to meet with all of our wonderful district leaders and to provide them with some training today. It was kind of a last minute thing but came together really nicely and was a very enjoyable/ spirit filled day. It was fun because i got to spend a good amount of time with Elder Roskelley and see how he was doing. Please send his parents an email and tell him he is doing a wonderful job as a missionary and as a District Leader in our mission. He had a really good question in our DLC today that showed his true love for his district. It was a follow up question to one of the work shops that Elder Laei and i taught a little while back about how to show unconditional love to our companions, build their confidence and how to conduct a proper companionship inventory. His question was how he could better reach out to his district and show them his love and gain their trust so that they would be willing to go to him when they needed something. It was just very clear to me that he desired nothing but the best for his district and wanted to do everything he could to be able to help them out. We also fed him some  POTATOES so he should be a pretty healthy/happy camper. I hope you enjoy the pictures that you have been asking about for almost a year now! haha LOVE YOU!

#62 2,000 words

Monday, September 29, 2014

Hey Everyone
We are doing pretty good. It is kind of hard this week because there has been a celebration here. Sorry I don't have that much time to reply, we are going to a district leader luncheon, but we are doing really good and I figure a picture is worth a thousand words so this email has 2,000 words or so.  I love you all.  Thanks.
Love,

#61 Small Typhoon

Monday, September 22, 2014

Hey everyone,
It sounds like everything is doing good at home.  I can't wait to taste some good apple pie.  We are very lucky where we are.  We aren't experience any flooding.  We did have a small typhoon that hit us but we were still able to work.  We just had to walk through a lot of water.  This week has been really cool to see how powerful the Book of Mormon is.  We have really focused on reading from the Book of Mormon with our investigators.  It is amazing to be able to feel the spirit testify of what they are reading.  One of our investigators said that he would gladly read the Book of Mormon everyday after we got done reading together.  We have also found some really cool new investigators that have a lot of potential.  I hope all is well.

Love,
 Elder Roskelley
