Email from Elder Benjamin

From Elder Benjamin:

We had the opportunity to meet with all of our wonderful district leaders and to provide them with some training today. It was kind of a last minute thing but came together really nicely and was a very enjoyable/ spirit filled day. It was fun because i got to spend a good amount of time with Elder Roskelley and see how he was doing. Please send his parents an email and tell him he is doing a wonderful job as a missionary and as a District Leader in our mission. He had a really good question in our DLC today that showed his true love for his district. It was a follow up question to one of the work shops that Elder Laei and i taught a little while back about how to show unconditional love to our companions, build their confidence and how to conduct a proper companionship inventory. His question was how he could better reach out to his district and show them his love and gain their trust so that they would be willing to go to him when they needed something. It was just very clear to me that he desired nothing but the best for his district and wanted to do everything he could to be able to help them out. We also fed him some  POTATOES so he should be a pretty healthy/happy camper. I hope you enjoy the pictures that you have been asking about for almost a year now! haha LOVE YOU!

#62 2,000 words

Monday, September 29, 2014

Hey Everyone
We are doing pretty good. It is kind of hard this week because there has been a celebration here. Sorry I don't have that much time to reply, we are going to a district leader luncheon, but we are doing really good and I figure a picture is worth a thousand words so this email has 2,000 words or so.  I love you all.  Thanks.
Love,

Elder Roskelley

#61 Small Typhoon

Monday, September 22, 2014

Hey everyone,
It sounds like everything is doing good at home.  I can't wait to taste some good apple pie.  We are very lucky where we are.  We aren't experience any flooding.  We did have a small typhoon that hit us but we were still able to work.  We just had to walk through a lot of water.  This week has been really cool to see how powerful the Book of Mormon is.  We have really focused on reading from the Book of Mormon with our investigators.  It is amazing to be able to feel the spirit testify of what they are reading.  One of our investigators said that he would gladly read the Book of Mormon everyday after we got done reading together.  We have also found some really cool new investigators that have a lot of potential.  I hope all is well.

Love,
 Elder Roskelley

#60 New companion and traniee

Monday, September 15, 2014

Hey everyone
We did pretty good this week here.  For Wednesday and Thursday I was in Cebu to get my new companion.  His name is Elder Lewis and he is from Lehi, Utah.  He just graduated from high school.  He is quite a bit smaller than my last comp.  He is a lot better at the language then I expected and he is handling everything pretty well.  We taught a lot of less actives this week so that Elder Lewis could get to know the members.  The members are really funny with him because they try to speak English to help him but he can't understand their English and he wants them to speak Cebuano so that he can learn.  Something funny that happened this week.  We were eating at our president’s house and elder Lewis said that he was using a small to eat his food instead of saying that he was using a fork.  I am doing just fine in the language.  I am still learning new words and grammar but I am not really having any problems.  Thank you for everything you do.  I can't believe that I have less than 10 months right now.  There is so much stuff that I still need to learn.  I know I am not a perfect companion and that is part of the reason I can usually be pretty good with my comps.  I think that part of the reason that there is so much info to learn so then it keeps us humble.
Love

#59 Heading to Cebu

Wednesday, September 10, 2014
Hello everyone,
I am doing really good.  My comp is transferring and I will meet my new comp tomorrow. This last week has been a little bit hard since I have been kind of sick.  We have done some pretty good work this last week.  We found some great new investigators.  We met this one lady, Jenalyn.  She is the neighbor of a member and she has a couple kids.  She has been reading and she says that she can feel something while she reads even though she doesn't understand all of the words.  We had a normal attendance this Sunday of 30.  It was nice to see the normal people at church.  I see the spirit guide me every day to help me in all the things I have to do.  I love the Lord and all he does for me. I am actually heading to Cebu right now to pick up my new trainee. It is really hot and sunny.  I will take a bus to Tagbilarin city then I will take a boat to Cebu city then I will ride some jeepneys until Lilo-an.  I should take about 6 hours.  It sounds like it will be very fun for my stomach.

Love,
Elder Roskelley

#58 More tracting

Monday, September 1, 2014

Hey everyone,

I hope all is going well.  We are doing really good here.  We haven't seen a lot of success in trying to find new investigators but we do have some that are progressing.  We spent one day and pretty much tracted the whole.  We got a couple return appointments but we might try focusing on referrals more.  We are just trying to find what works best here.  Elder Ika and I have just been keeping a good attitude.  Always staying positive about the area.  We only had 18 members at church this Sunday but it was still really good. It was a lot easier to focus on the sacrament.  We are all in all doing really good.

Love,

Elder Roskelley

#57 Lots of tracting

Monday, August 25, 2014

Hello everyone,
This last week was great for us.  At the beginning it was pretty hard.  We did a lot of tracting but toward the end things started picking up and we had 2 investigators come to church.  Our attendance was pretty high so we got to see a few rewards for our hard work.  We are now on our way to a zone conference today.  That should be great.  President Tanner always has awesome stuff to say.  This week we should do great too.  I am really excited.  We are making some really good changes to our area to try to help it progress more.  We are doing really good here in Duero.  I just got to see AP Benjamin.  He just came to Duero to drop off some beds for us.  It was really cool.  He looks like he is doing good.  The weather has been okay.  We are having a small storm right now.  Probably just the side of a typhoon.  We are doing good though.
Love,

Elder Roskelley
